In conversation with Meliors Simms, the Holistic Tooth Fairy, as we discuss the importance of connecting to the Earth and the the role it plays in bringing in our soul purpose.
What do I mean when I talk about connecting to earth? Well I mean a lot of us have heard about grounding, it’s about this giving and receiving to earth, it’s about our relationship with earth. But so many of us have become quite disconnected.
We’re we live in a world where we’re not out in nature much, and we’re wearing shoes and driving cars, and we’re not gardening or growing our own veggies, and in doing so we’ve lost our connection to the earth.
We are physical beings and we come from this earth, so we need to be grounded and we need to be connected to the Earth.
Being out in nature allows you to receive all the the energy and the nourishment that Earth can give.
If we go to the beach or we do gardening or we walk barefoot on the grass these things they really connect and nourish our souls so it’s so important for us for so many reasons to encourage connecting to the Earth.
The effects on those who are disconnected from the Earth
The people I see as a kinesiologist who aren’t connected to the Earth , you can just tell. It’s evident in the over thinking, over analyzing, behaviour that they’re not in their bodies, they’re not feeling into their heart.
Even things like not being able to gain the nourishment from the Earth. I’ve had some clients who aren’t getting the nutrients from fruit and vegetables leading to disconnection. Some clients who’s teeth are quite demineralized, I think that part of their inability to access and process minerals from the food that they’re eating is because of a lack of grounding; at least that’s part of the reason.
Disconnection from the Earth can happen for so many reasons. There can be trauma where things have been really difficult. When trauma occurs, the associated negative thoughts and feelings actually start to disconnect us from Earth because it’s a part of us finding a way to remove ourselves from the difficulties of our reality.
That’s obviously not all of it, and it’s not true for everyone, but it is something that I observe.
The role of grounding in the idea of embodiment
We are meant to be living our true selves and bringing in our energy connections, but to truly do that, to truly be embodied, part of it is to be connected to Earth.
It’s almost like we have to be this channel from this connection to source down to Earth because we receive the energy from both. It’s the importance of not only connecting to the energy above, but also to make sure you’re connected to your the energy below; to Mother Earth. To do that you need to be grounded yourself.
I think that’s one of the things that when I’m working I’m always ensuring we’re also working in the physical, because we are physical. We’re human beings for having a physical experience here and so everything has to be grounded in the physical too.
Being grounded is part of the embodiment process but it’s not fully. I don’t think that we can fully embody if we’re not grounded, we have to have both. They’re both energies, the emotion and the intellect, but also the body in physical and I can’t separate them out when I work with people. We’ve got to do both they’ve got to have the idea, that intention, of healing as well as the good diet in looking after the skeletal part of it to allow healing and to deal with the emotional aspects.
We can’t just we can’t just heal on the physical, we need to look at the emotional. But then on the other side we can’t just heal and emotional and forget about the physical. It really has to be both. The same with the spiritual. We can’t just look all the spiritual stuff and not look how that’s affecting our physical body. Our work is really marrying these and knowing that we’re working on all of these levels at the same time or we’re at least doing different work that works on each individual layer.
This giving and receiving is such an important cycle for us all to be so aware of our connection with Mother Earth. She’s very willing to take a lot of our stuff we want to get rid of. When we let go we send it downwards, down to the Earth.
So many women are such givers. We give give give give and we don’t receive. We need to learn to receive so that all becomes equal and and we can sustain the energy flow.
A visualisation to connect with the Earth
There’s a little visualisation that I share with some of my clients about imagining that you’re drawing up minerals out of the earth, and then processing them through your body and being soaked up by your body. So you’re imagining those minerals going into the body parts and bolstering them and supporting them and making them stronger. Our cells are always responding to information we feed them, that’s what switches them on and off. Some of that information comes from nutrients, from the environment, and time of day and sunshine, etc. But it also comes from our thoughts and our feelings and so that’s an area where we can consciously contribute to the good functioning of our our bodies and energy.
Following the visualisation you are letting go and giving away, but then also drawing in and you’re really imagining how your body is reacting.
People can really start to connect themselves just by getting out into into nature as much as possible. Experiencing the trees, the grass, the sand… even just sun gazing can really help to you bring that energy from the Sun in and then sending that down your body and down into the Earth.
That’s a really lovely way of kind of opening up that channel and connection to the Earth. It helps the body to relax, receive and let go.
Do you feel connected to the Earth?
I’d love to hear how you keep grounded and sustain your connection with the Earth. Please comment below or drop me an email.
